Bet - Spain vs Germany

17:00, Friday, July 5th

Spain vs Germany is the pick up the quarter-final clashes. Luis De La Fuente’s team have been the form team in this tournament. They are the only side that can boast a 100% record and they looked menacing in the 4-1 win over Georgia.

Germany will also be happy with the way they have performed thus far. They survived a scare against Switzerland in their final group game when Niclas Fullkrug scored n injury time equaliser to secure 1st place in the group.

This bet will come a no surprise to those who have read the other tips from me in this tournament. Robin Le Normand has been a reliable source of winners for us and as the saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Spain play with a high defensive line and this can leave their centre-backs vulnerable to being turned by more technically gifted players. Germany have such players in abundance and the Spaniards are more likely to commit cynical fouls to stop counters as a result.

Luis De La Fuente’s side have committed an average of 14.25 fouls per game at Euro 2024, only two sides have averaged more. Robin Le Normand has made a reasonable contribution to that tally. He has made at least two fouls in all three of his starts. He came on for the second half in the 1-0 win over Albania and made one foul in that match.

Spain being in a commanding position doesn’t seem to make a difference to Le Normand. He made two fouls in the last game against Georgia and this clash with Germany promises to be much tighter.

  • Bet: Over 1.5 Fouls For Robin Le Normand

  • Odds: 2.70 Paddy Power

  • Advised Stake: 1/3 Units

Bonus Bet - Copa America 2024 - Uruguay vs Brazil

02:00, Sunday, July 7th

The Copa America quarter-finals also take place this weekend so here is a bonus bet for Uruguay vs Brazil.

The Selecao could only manage one win in the group stages so they face a tough test when they take on Uruguay. Dorival is yet to lose a game as Brazil boss but the team have draw more than half of their matches under the new boss.

Uruguay beat Brazil 2-0 in their last meeting. La Celeste have been exceptional under Marcelo Bielsa. They have lost just thwo of their four matches under the former Leeds boss and they harbour ambitions of winning their 16th Copa America crown here.

I’m backing Uruguay to make at least 15 fouls in this match. They have made an average of 12 per game so far but they are yet to face a team with the quality that Brazil possess. When they beat Brazil back in October, La Celeste made 18 fouls in the match.

Brazil drew their final group game against Colombia 1-1. Dorival’s team lacked creativity but they still managed to force 19 fouls from their opponents. The Selecao have forced 15 fouls or more in four of their last five head-to-heads with Uruguay. La Celeste have made 17.4 fouls per game on average over that period.

  • Bet: Over 14.5 Fouls For Uruguay

  • Odds: 1.83 Paddy Power

  • Advised Stake: 1/3 Units

Bet - Netherlands vs Turkey

20:00, Tuesday, July 6th

Holland and Turkey face one another on Saturday night at the Olympiastadion. Ronald Koeman’s side are strong favourites (1.57) with Vincenzo Montella’s Turkey (6.10) almighty underdogs. Instead of getting involved in the main markets, my selection for this clash focuses on two players. Cody Gakpo and Hakan Calhanoglu are the selected individuals.

Cody Gakpo has had a superb tournament so far. Liverpool’s forward has scored three times across 345 minutes. He’s registered 11 shots in that time with seven of those hitting the target. Cody has looked sharp and will be full of confidence on Saturday night in a contest his nation has every chance of winning.

Gakpo has recorded a 100% success rate in this market. I expect that to continue again here.

Here are his SOT numbers in Euro 2024 so far;

Poland - 2 SOT

France - 1 SOT

Austria - 1 SOT

Romania - 3 SOT

Here is Turkey’s SOT against numbers in Euro 2024 so far;

Georgia - 5 SOT

Portugal - 3 SOT

Czech Republic - 7 SOT

Austria - 5 SOT

Hakan Calhanoglu is an instrumental figure in the Turkey national team. He’s the captain and a leader. He loves to dictate play and put himself about. Inter Milan’s midfield maestro has committed five fouls across three appearances. He didn’t feature in Turkey’s win over Austria due to suspension.

Calhanoglu was punished for a foul twice against Georgia and Portugal. He committed a foul against the Czech Republic.

Turkey are expected to play a 4-2-3-1 formation with Hakan in the middle of the three. The central trio have been making fouls consistently in this tournament.

Ayhan, Calhanoglu, Kokcu, Ozcan, Yuskek and Yimaz have all played in either the holding two or centrally in the midfield three. On 11 occasions from 12, a foul has been committed across the four matches.

The double comes in at 1.93. I’ll take that price all day. Let’s be bold. Gakpo AGS & Calhanoglu To Be Booked is priced at 12.00. I’ll have a smaller stake on that!

  • Bet: Over 0.5 Shots On Target For Cody Gakpo & Over 0.5 Fouls For Hakan Calhanoglu

  • Odds: 1.93 Betfair

  • Advised Stake: 1/3 Units

  • Bet: Cody Gakpo Anytime Goalscorer & Hakan Calhanoglu To Be Booked

  • Odds: 12.00 Bet365

  • Advised Stake: 0.5/3 Units

Bet - Netherlands vs Turkey

20:00, Tuesday, July 6th

Turkish ill-discipline has landed manager Vincenzo Montella with a slight selection headache. Hakan Calhonglu was only able to watch on nervously as Turkey edged past Austria, despite a barrage of good chances. The skipper will be welcomed back with open arms to the starting eleven, especially given that fellow midfielders Orkun Kokcu and Ismail Yuksek will be unavailable in the quarter-finals - both have accrued two yellow cards.

Calhanoglu has managed 8 shots from his 3 games at Euro 2024 - the second-most for Turkey behind Juventus prodigy Kenan Yildiz (9). Five of his 8 shots have been from outside the box, and this price really stands out considering Calhanoglu will be the allocated set-piece taker. He’s already had one shot directly from a free-kick, but positions himself at the edge of the box for corners. With an average of 1.76 shots per 90 for Inter Milan domestically, Calhanoglu certainly has an eye for goal - he scored 15 goals in 40 appearances last season.

Griezmann has struggled in front of goal so far. Poland are the lowest ranked side in Group D, and have no chance of qualification following two losses. Meanwhile France will need a win to secure top spot, and a potentially favourable knockout draw. Regression is due for Griezmann, as long as he continues to find himself in good positions, a goal is never far away. A price in excess of 2/1 really stands out, and is as short as 1.91 elsewhere.

Netherlands looked great against Romania, running out 3-0 victors - a scoreline which probably flattered the eliminated nation. The Dutch come in as decent favourites, which means a positive gamestate is likely for Turkey shots. This same bet is 1.66 with bet365, which highlights the value on offer.

  • Bet: Over 1.5 Shots For Hakan Calhangolu

  • Odds: 1.83 SkyBet

  • Advised Stake: 1/3 Units
